Service Description
Challenge your skills that you learnt on the beginners course and create a full coffee / tea set to wow your friends with and enjoy using everyday at home. Developing your skills further on the wheel is a great challenge, especially when you gain encouragement and support from each other as you go through the next learning curve as we move into intermediate skills. Held on an evening over four weeks, it is the perfect way to have some "you time" and be in the moment with clay. With step-by-step support and tuition including demonstrations of all key processes, you will build technical precision and confidence at the wheel. At the end of the course, you will be able to choose a signature glaze colour from our studio selection that will be meticulously applied for you following the glaze firing process. Your Four-Week Studio Journey • Week 1: The Ritual of Uniformity — Creation of four matching mugs, using calipers to develop consistency in height, width, and form. • Week 2: Lids, Jugs & Pulling Handles — Throwing a lidded sugar bowl and a matching milk jug, pulling functional clay handles for each mug, and trimming and turning your week 1 forms. • Week 3: The Centerpiece Vessel — Creation of your tea or coffee pot and its matching lid, and finishing off the handles for your pouring jug. • Week 4: Surface Architecture & Finishing — Assembling final components, line refinement, and surface design carving to complete your bespoke service set. Course Logistics & Studio Guidelines Each session provides 2.5 hours of dedicated tuition, plus 30 minutes for finishing, choosing your glazes, and cleaning down your wheel setup. All materials and the final firing of your complete intermediate set are included. Firing can take a while; please expect around four weeks for your pieces to go through the complete kiln process before they are ready for collection. As with all of our classes, tea, coffee, and biscuits are complimentary throughout the evening. • Age Limit: Open to intermediate students aged 15 years old or over. • Group Size: Strictly limited to a maximum of 4 students for focused, intimate tuition. • What to Wear: Clay is wonderfully messy! Please wear old clothes and bring your own apron. Course Dates & Times • Course Dates: Thursday evenings — 15th, 22nd 29th April and 6th May 2027. • Studio Hours: 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM weekly. • All classes 7 - 10pm at Snowdrop Studio, Compostela, Trinity Hill, Medstead, GU345LT
